Sample Assignment 4

 Introducing Graphic Design
for 3D Structure and

This was an early assignment before 3D design software was known to this group of students. The goal of the assignment was to start preparing the graphic design students to think in three-dimensions, how content is read differently in larger scale, and how the graphics need to work cohesively across structure. The exhibit structure was provided, along with the dimensions of the graphics panels in the exhibit. A photoshop rendering lecture was given and students chose a company, designed the graphics and re-branded the exhibit. This is common in the trade show industry, a standard rental exhibit is used from client to client but rebranded to align with the new customers goals and objectives.

Photoshop Rendering Assignment

Using the renderings supplied in class, you will accomplish the following:

  1. Choose a company to rebrand the booth

  2. Create to‐scale (with a feet‐to‐inches scale) graphics for each of the different graphic panels. Keep in mind the following:

    • Your graphics should contain obvious identification of the brand/product.

    • Your graphics need to attract attendees into your space.

    • Your graphics should be cohesive throughout the booth.

    • Your graphics should address the needs of your target audience.

    • Your graphics should contain an effective theme for the brand.

    • Your graphics should contain a creative solution, which are pleasing to the eye, and use appropriate color and typography.

  3. Once your graphics are created, use the Photoshop techniques discussed in class to apply them to the booth.

  4. Bring an electronic and color, laser printed (printed in BN218) copy of your solution to class on the due date. Your final presentation should include your graphic solutions as well as the graphics applied to the rendering.
